DESCRIPTION

Innisfree is a three bedroom, three bathroom, two story home, located at Indian Pass off of C30-A half-way between Port St. Joe and Apalachicola on the Florida Pan Handle. Indian Pass is well-known throughout the world for the Indian Pass Raw Bar. “The community of Indian Pass is a tiny sliver of peninsula stretching east from The Cape toward St. Vincent Island, its 12,500 acres a national wildlife refuge for Indonesian Sambar deer, wild boar and endangered red wolves. For years this was the beach for well-to-do families from Apalachicola.” (New York Times Article

There are magnificent views of the Gulf from every room of Innisfree. And the view of the sunrise over St. Vincent's Island is not to be missed. The beach is a short walk away (you pass one house) and there you will see miles and miles of beaches both broad and narrow to satisfy any walker or beach lover. This beach is also very well known by fishermen in the area. South Oak Street is in an area of Indian Pass called “the village” where homes dot the small grid of streets. You know you are here and that life will go slower when you get to the “Congested Area” street warning! “Congested” often means 9 people and perhaps 3 dogs on the 3-4 miles of beach and dunes. The South Side (as in “South” Oak Street) is on the Gulf side of Indian Pass Road and the “North” streets lead to the Lagoon. At the end of Indian Pass Road is the boat ramp which is located at the pass between Apalachicola Bay and the Gulf. Oyster beds are found in the Lagoon and toward Apalachicola so boats need to watch their charts! Kayakers too.

Innisfree has a large screened-in porch on the main floor. There is a 46” high definition TV in the living room along with a Sony DVD player. The kitchen is well appointed with microwave, gas stove, coffee maker, blender, ice maker, dishwasher, mixer, crockpot and too many pots and pans. The upstairs bedroom at the back is furnished with twin beds and also a 32” HD TV for cable and a DVD player. The front bedroom has a king-size bed and the fabulous sunrise view of the Island from the bed and from the large deck. The main floor bedroom has a queen-size bed. There is no sleep sofa and the house is limited to 6 (ok, babies are ok — bring a bed for them!).

The utility room on the main floor just beyond the kitchen includes the washer and dryer. Below the house there is an outside shower for washing off the salt and sand, and a fish cleaning station. Parking is available under the house. There are two separate staircases to the main floor, one on the outside of the house and the other in the interior directly to the kitchen area.

Walking on the beach is relaxing, kayaking is exhilarating due to the current moving through the pass, the sound of the waves from the Gulf lull you to sleep, and the good dinner on the porch is always tasty. Be sure to have your shrimp freshly delivered to the house — straight off the boat. And if you are interested in astronomy, the stars in the Milky Way are super bright and the moon makes a glow almost like sunlight on the beach. It is amazing to walk along at night followed by your shadow made by the moonlight. Nature is yours here. Come and be part of it.

This is a pet friendly home, and a non-refundable pet fee of $112 per pet will be added to the reservation upon Homeowner approval.

Weekly reservations includes a $250 credit of beach gear rental provided by VayK Gear. No need to find a beach gear rental company, you’ll be able to shop for bikes, paddle boards, kayaks, beach chairs, umbrellas, or even beach carts. Your gear will be delivered to your beach house and will be waiting for your arrival.
